APL 360 A Senhora das Colmeias (1)
In a mine near a village called Ribeira (brook) de Amarante there once appeared an image which people said was holy because of tthe things she performed. Twice it was taken to a church in Nespereira Alta, but it always returned to the mine where it had been found. One day it was decided to take it back to the chapel in a solemn procession, and only then did she remain in the chapel. It is called The Lady of Beehives because there were beehives near where she was found. Others call her the Saint of the Brook.
Um dia apareceu, numa mina perto de uma povoação chamada Ribeira de Amarante, uma imagem, que diziam ser santa pelas coisas que fazia.
Por duas vezes esta imagem foi levada para uma capela em Nespereira Alta, mas sem que ninguém saiba explicar como, a imagem voltava sempre para a mina onde tinha sido descoberta.
Um dia resolveram levá-la em procissão e só a partir dessa altura a Santa ficou, definitivamente, na capela.
Perto do sítio onde a Santa apareceu havia umas colmeias e na dita mina nasce uma ribeira, por isso uns lhe chamam a Senhora das Colmeias e outros a Santa da Ribeira.
Todos os anos se realiza, a 15 de Agosto, uma festa religiosa, com procissão, em honra desta Santa, em Nespereira Alta.
